How many of you knew this existed? I had never seen one before yesterday. Looked like a lifted first gen focus.
(Apologies for the crappy pic. I was trying to drive safe)

I did. Legacy sedan with Outback suspension. Pretty sure it’s a Legacy Outback.

You could get them with an H6 for awhile too IIRC.

They were made from 1999-2007.

I did. My wife used to have an Outback sedan. I believe it was a 2001.

Officially all Outbacks were Legacy Outbacks until either 2008 (the year the Outback became wagon-only and the Legacy sendan-only) or 2010 (when they refreshed the Outback and began the era of the bloatwagon).

Yep, this. Despite the bloating, the 2010 is one of my favorite cars, and still came in under about 3200 or 3300 lbs, so not much heavier than a Corvette.

My buddy looked at one. The rear seats did not fold down which was a big negative and the dealer was being a d-bag on the price so he ended up with an outback wagon

3,386-3,658 lbs, depending on options. Which is within 40 lbs of the previous generation on both ends.

The Outback trim (both sedan and wagon) were the only way to get the H6 for the ‘00-’04 model year.

Yup, they are common enough here not to be surprising, but uncommon bough you rarely see them.

The had one the generation before as well. I think it was called “SUS” for sport utility sedan rather than Outback. I dated a girl for a while back around 2005 that had one. I recall it being quite nice actually, if a bit silly of a concept.

yep - we have a few still running around up here. Handy in heavy snow areas or if you have a bunch of gravel roads but don’t want a wagon or CUV.

They actually started it with the previous gen, which was so smexy and I would totally buy a manual one in a heartbeat.

I’ve always kind of liked them, but just shy of enough to buy one.

Yeah, that too. Not so heavy compared to most cars.
